Speaking to the Next Generation at Niagara University

During Black History Month, I had the privilege of speaking with the students of the Niagara University National Black Pre-Law Association. I want to sincerely thank them for the invitation and for creating a space where meaningful conversations about leadership, perseverance, a

nd purpose can take place.

It was truly an honor to share my personal journey - the challenges, the lessons, and the faith that has guided me along the way. My goal in speaking with the students was simple: to encourage young professionals to aim high and never allow the doubts of others or difficult circumstances to limit what they believe is possible.

Too often, people allow outside voices to determine the size of their dreams. But the truth is, success is rarely about where you start - it’s about the direction you choose to walk and the values that guide you along the way.

For me, faith has always been the foundation.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6

When you allow God to guide your steps, you place yourself in the best possible position for success - not just professionally, but in the way you serve others and contribute to your community.

What impressed me most about the students I met was their ambition, curiosity, and commitment to making a difference. These are the future attorneys, leaders, advocates, and policymakers who will shape the next chapter of our communities.

Being able to pour into the next generation of leaders is something I take seriously and deeply value. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story with them, and I look forward to seeing all that they accomplish in the years ahead.

Moments like these remind me that leadership is not just about holding positions - it’s about investing in people and helping others recognize their potential.
