Heart of the City Forum: Your Voice Matters

In every community, there comes a time when residents must decide whether they will simply watch the future unfold or take an active role in shaping it. That is the purpose of the Heart of the City Forum.

Our city faces real challenges. Families are feeling the pressure of rising gas and electric bills. Parents are concerned about the affordability and availability of child care. Businesses are navigating economic uncertainty. Residents continue to ask important questions about public safety, housing, economic development, and the long-term future of Niagara Falls.

These issues are not abstract. They affect our daily lives, our neighborhoods, and our opportunities for future generations.

The Heart of the City Forum was created to bring people together- not for political theater, but for meaningful conversation. We believe informed citizens make stronger communities, and that progress begins when residents have the opportunity to hear directly from leaders, ask questions, and engage in respectful dialogue about the issues that matter most.

This month's forum will feature:

• Rebecca Wydysh, candidate for the 145th New York State Assembly District and former Chairwoman of the Niagara County Legislature.

• Kalinda Washington, candidate for the 135th New York State Assembly District.

• Chris McKimmie, candidate for the Niagara County Legislature's 3rd District.

Together, they will discuss state and local policies that impact our community and share their perspectives on how Niagara Falls can move forward.

What makes the Heart of the City Forum unique is that it is driven by the community. Residents are encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, and participate in a conversation about the future of our city. Whether you agree or disagree with a speaker, your presence matters because democracy works best when people are engaged.

Too often, decisions are made by a small number of people while many choose to remain on the sidelines. The Heart of the City Forum seeks to change that by creating a space where residents can become informed, involved, and empowered.

The future of Niagara Falls will not be determined solely in Albany, at City Hall, or in the County Legislature. It will be shaped by residents who care enough to show up, speak up, and take ownership of the community they call home.
